From a military standpoint, how has Obama been doing? I am curious to see what the readers of this blog feel about Obama and his role as commander of our military. Has he done a satisfactory job so far?
I began thinking about this question after hearing that Japans next Premier was in favor of Obama and his actions in bringing the US into “dialogue and harmonization” with Japan and the rest of the world. It appears that there are several world leaders who are happier with the job Obama is doing than past presidents. However it is worth noting that many leaders in South America are thoroughly dissatisfied with Obama’s actions because of his plans to reduce drug importation into the US by cracking down on cartels in Colombia. However overall, most nations seem to be happy with the job Obama is doing.
Is Obama doing a good job so far?
Here is my thesis – regardless of whether or not Obama is acting correctly, global leaders are bound to favor him more than someone like George Bush because he is far more interested in diplomacy and passive actions. For example Obama is actively trying to reduce nuclear weapons stockpiles. Basically what I am trying to say is that Obama is giving other nations more of a voice and asking for their input. I honestly can’t say whether or not this is the right action. For example Obama is likely going to move the missile shield because Russia was angry about it. Should we simply appease every nation when they are upset? Many would argue that this is portraying an image of weakness which could damage the United States credibility. I will let you decide.
