Why North Korea Must Have Nukes

Written by USPatriot

North Korea is under the distinct impression that they are protecting themselves by developing nuclear weapons. However it is my opinion that they are placing themselves in the line of fire. In developing a nuclear program and repeatedly denying US orders, North Korea has become a greater enemy than ever before for the United States. It is true that countries with nuclear weapons typically get better bargaining rights than those countries without said weapons. However North Korea is a different story. It is my opinion that a war will inevitably ensue if North Korea does not relinquish their weapons. Why does North Korea balk at the idea? Here is North Korea’s latest comment, “Giving up nuclear weapons cannot be considered even in a dream as long as the fundamental reasons which have forced us to possess nuclear weapons exist.” The fundamental reasons which he is referring to is the United States. Do you believe that the US is to blame for North Korea’s nuclear program?

My opinion is that North Korea is a rogue nation and that they would have procured nuclear weapons no matter what situation existed. North Korea is seeking to gain aid and financial rewards for their program. The only time that the US has ever had any success with North Korea was when we bought them out with a comprehensive aid plan. In the end that failed because they didn’t like our terms for denuclearization verification. However no other idea has come close to solving the nuclear dilemma with North Korea. It is my opinion that one of two things must happen – the US needs to buy out North Korea with aid and trade benefits or we need to threaten war on North Korea. I don’t believe the second is a route that we want to travel. My vote is to buy off North Korea because it is far cheaper and less damaging than a war. I will say it again, the longer we wait the more developed North Korea’s program becomes and the more trouble we are in. Every day things get worse. Something must be done now!
