North Korea Wants Peace Pact

Written by USPatriot

On Wednesday North Korea voiced their need for a peace pact with the United States before disarmament discussions could resume. North Korea stated that a peace pact was the most “reasonable and practical” means of rectifying the situation. For the past several years the United States has attempted to strike a deal with North Korea where they would relinquish their nuclear program. Past attempts have proved unsuccessful because of the unwillingness to cooperate by Kim Jong-Il. Even when an agreement for disarmament was reached in exchange for aid, the leader of North Korea backed out because he did not wish to have UN inspectors checking out his facilities.

A North Korea newspaper recently stated that a “peace accord” was necessary between the US and North Korea in order to settle the nuclear issue on the peninsula. The paper stated that this was likely the best way to get North Korea to let go of their nuclear weapons. Furthermore the paper called the US hostile and insisted that a more diplomatic relationship with North Korea would yield better results. The paper also said that the hostile nature of the US was the reason why North Korea gathered nuclear weapons in the first place. I believe that to be absolutely bogus. North Korea acquired nuclear weapons because they have a mentally unsound leader who is dangerous and seeks more power and acknowledgment from the global community. North Korea is dangerous with their nuclear weapons and they need to be disarmed as soon as possible. Are discussions with North Korea a possibility? In the past the US has always denied these discussions favoring the six party talks. Perhaps the US is finally ready to give one on one talks with North Korea a try.
