On Wednesday troops in Pakistan were fighting with taliban members in an effort to move further into Taliban territory. Reports indicate that the army took the town of Sararogha and in the process killed 30 militants who were believed to be associated with or part of the Taliban. The Pakistan troops are seeking to destroy Tehreek-e-Taliban in South Waziristan. South Waziristan is one of the most dangerous places in the Middle East because of the high population of members of Al-Qaeda and the Taliban.
You may have heard of Sararogha in the past, as it was the location where one Taliban warlord was killed by a US drone. It is times like that that I am so happy we spend so much money developing advanced robotics for war.
Troops from Pakistan started their air and ground attacks on October 17th. All told there are 30,000 troops combined with air support. The death toll so far is as follows: 45 troops died while 390 militants and Taliban members have been killed.
While the information about the events of Wednesday has not yet been confirmed, it is believed to be reliable as it came strait from the army. It is pleasing to me to see how successful Pakistan is with their attempts to alleviate militants from the region. I wish them the best of luck and continued prosperity.
