A report compiled by the US government recently stated that China is further developing their espionage program with the use of computer hackers. According to Carolyn Batholomew, the chair of US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, “China is changing the way that espionage is being done.” China is changing the face of espionage because they are revolutionizing how computer espionage is being conducted. The report developed by the commission for Economic and Security Review stated that attacks on US computer networks are up twenty percent this year to almost 55,000 attempts. Furthermore the report cited that China is the number one attacker in this incidence. They have masterfully developed a structure which leaves them unable to receive blame. Many times the Chinese government does not officially support or fund Chinese hacking groups. However China openly allows these groups to prosper so that they will attack and disarm US government sites and systems.
The report specified that these attacks will likely increase by 60% more next year. Additionally the report found that China was actively attempting to gather US spies to further intelligence. Many times Chinese spies play the role of a trusted US military ally in order to deceive US military / government persons so that they will give away valuable information. These attacks are called false flag attacks.
I must say that I am weary of where things are headed with China. Every year their espionage techniques and capabilities grow and they seem to continually have it out for the United States. We need to be careful about our relationship with this country as I believe them to be a power hungry nation.
