MOS stands for Military Occupational Specialty. A Marine’s Specialty Training prepares him or her for pursuit of a particular MOS. Today I want to focus on the training in Computers/Communications/Intelligence/Electronics.
I have chosen to focus on that Specialty today, due to what I heard on the news last night. There was a short report about the number of used military items now being auctioned-off on the Internet.
According to the report, efforts had been made to discover the source of those items. The person who was selling one item had been contacted. He had said that he did not recall how he had obtained that item.
It is obvious that the military needs to be better able to decode the messages that our enemies send to each other. The MOS that deals with computers, communications, intelligence and electronics gives the willing Marine the ability to study de-coding techniques.
I am going to close this post by posting some quotes taken from the brochure “Choose a Place Among the Few.” These are quotes that offer more information about the MOS that appears to be so very important at this time:
“In many situations, an edge becomes the difference between success and failure. For the Marine Corps, that edge comes in the form of our sophisticated ommunications network…”
“Of all the areas of specialty in the Marine Corps, Computers/Communictions/Intelligence/Electronics is the most technically challenging, and it is well suited for those who have a desire to learn and implement new technology.”
