As I make this post about the future of a cyber war, hundreds, if not thousands, of cyber-spies out there are already in the process of insinuating a cyber war against one nation and another. We’ve heard news just a few weeks ago about a China-based network was traced by Canadian researchers as spying and stealing Indian military secrets and even hacking the Dalai Lama’s office. Now, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO) top cyber-minds are trying to predict the evolution of conflict in an Internet-dependent world.
Until now, not so many people are aware of a cyber war occurring because they haven’t any experience with it yet. Other than having their antivirus detect Trojans and other malwares, civilians don’t feel surfing online or doing transactions online as a threat. According to NATO experts, people should be warned about a future of cyber-attacks taking part of the fighting between nations. Thus, we have to take this issue more seriously than before.
One of the most advanced when it comes to almost anything about cyber threats is Estonia – or E-stonia due to its flourishing high-tech industry. It has the most development when it comes to cyber-conflicts that NATO speaks of Tallin, its capital as the Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence.
And well, Estonia strongly believes in a future impact cyber-conflicts could bring to nations so in learning this, I motion that we should stop ignoring this issue and let more people be aware of this at once. Do you think so?
