Combat Week – Air Force

Written by Jonathan Formby

Air Force basic training is held at Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas. Over 86,000 students graduate annually from Lackland. The training is held for a period of six weeks. After being processed, you will receive your new hairdo. (Nothing fancy, just a military shave). You will then be placed into a flight, which is a groupAir Force BMT of 45 new recruits. Your flight will spend their days studying, cleaning dorms, and doing exercise drills. Your superiors will yell and insult you like they hate everything you do. Just remember, that the purpose of this is to break you down so that they can mold you into a fine US Air Force soldier. For those of you who have completed US Air Force basic training, let us know what you thought. Was it as bad as you expected it to be? Or better? If you have any pearls of wisdom for those who might be considering enlisting in the Air Force, please share them here.

Aside from physical conditioning, the most integral component of your basic training will be your classroom sessions. Here you will learn all you need to know about flying government aircrafts. This is likely to be the most exciting and enjoyable part of your journey. Every kid wants to fly, just remember that you are making that dream come true.

In total, you will spend 40 hours in the classroom learning subjects such as: Air Force History, Air Force Organization, Financial Management, Lifestyle Fitness, Customs and Courtesies, and Human Relations. You should spend whatever free time you have before lights out to study for your academic test.
