If Iran continues to pursue uranium enrichment, will the United States be in danger? The Idea of nuclear weapons for Iraq is somewhat troublesome for the US, Israel, and most of Europe. However the United States is working both on the offensive and defensive to protect America from any Iranian missile threats. The US defense secretary Robert Gates is planning to meet with NATO members to suggest a joint effort to create a missile defense system to protect the nations from Iranian missiles.
In these uncertain times it is vital that the US and our European allies have a comprehensive missile system that can protect against sudden missile attacks. Interceptor missiles are scheduled to be placed in Poland in correlation with a radar system in the Czech Republic. Such a setup would benefit most of Europe but would leave Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania to fend for themselves.
While this missile prevention system is an excellent idea, it has not been finalized just yet. Negotiations between the US and Poland and the Czech Republic are still being conducted. However it seems that the missile defense system will be established in the coming months.
I would like to know what the readers of this blog make of the current situation with Iran. I have talked a lot about the nuclear issues associated with Iran lately because it is of such great importance that we sort this problem out before it escalates. Do you believe that this new missile defense system is adequate? Is there anything else that the US and the EU need to be doing in preparation for possible Iranian attacks?
