In January of 2007 Iran responded spitefully to the UN sanctions by declaring that they have blocked entry into the country for any IAEA inspectors. Later that year the IAEA confirms that Iran has been growing their nuclear operation. In March the UN institutes new sanctions combined with incentives in an effort to end the conflict with Iran. This effort was quite similar to what leaders have been doing in recent weeks with regard to the nuclear conflict with Iran.
When looking at the history of the nuclear conflict with Iran, it is evident that utilizing force to ensure that Iran discontinues their nuclear program has been avoided by all means. The UN has continually sought to utilize diplomatic actions to bring about a change in the Iranian plans for nuclear weapons. Based on my detailing of the History of this conflict, do you believe that the UN diplomatic actions have been effective? How effective could these actions have been if we are still trying to persuade Iran to give up their nuclear program?
To continue with the history of Iran, by April of 2007 the president of Iran announced that Iran had the capabilities to produce nuclear fuel at a commercial level. Later that year the IAEA found that Iran was in fact telling the truth some of the time about their nuclear program. However the IAEA also admitted that they now knew little about the Iranian nuclear program.
