In a surprise turn of events, the US National Intelligence came out and admitted that they believe that Tehran had not been trying to develop nuclear weapons since 2003 based on their current knowledge. They also stated that they believed that Iran had not resumed this project.
In January of 2008 the UN decided that they did not know enough about the current nuclear situation in Iran so they gave Iran a four-week deadline to shed light on the entire nuclear situation. The UN inspections team later reported that they had gained valuable information about the nuclear program but that no conclusions could be made yet. On April 11 the UN found that Iran was yet again pursuing uranium enrichment. From this point on the US and UN have actively tried to utilize sanctions and peace offerings to get Iran to discontinue their program.
Now that you have received the detailed history of the Iranian nuclear program, what do you believe the US should do if Iran continues to disregard UN orders? I have found that sometimes if you want to find a solution to a current problem, you must journey backward to the events that have given way to the problem you now face. I invite you to continue to study up on the history of the nuclear conflicts with Iran so that you can form your own opinion about their motives and what actions you feel should be taken to ensure global security from a nuclear Iran.
