George Bush is still the commander in Chief until January 20th. When that day comes we will be under the authority of Barak Obama. President Bush is attempting to finalize the Status of Forces agreement and to have it signed by both parties before Obama takes control.
I just want to take a brief moment to ask the readers what they feel about the President Elect. Are you happy with his plans for the United States military? Do you think that he will do a better job than President Bush with the war in Iraq? Furthermore I would like to know what you believe about a pullout from Iraq. Is it time to cut our losses and get out?
I firmly believe that we need to stay in Iraq until the mission is accomplished. Otherwise we entered into this war for absolutely nothing. I can’t bear to think that people have given their lives and families have been torn for nothing. That is why I am somewhat afraid of Obama’s plans for Iraq. If he pulls out our troops prematurely, the fledgling democracy in Iraq will be forever crushed. We need to ensure that we help Iraq to set up a democracy and that we forever have an ally in the Middle East.
If you think Obama’s election is a positive thing for our military and our national security, please feel free to say so. Whatever your opinions are, we welcome them here in this forum.
