The Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stated on Wednesday that he plans to fire a warning missile to show Barak Obama that he means business. Medvedev has recently criticized the United States for the global financial recession as well as the recent war in Georgia. It’s ironic that he seems to be criticizing the United States for the economic recession. I don’t remember him ever thanking the US for the years of economic prosperity that has been experienced worldwide as a result of the United States engagement in the global market.
Russia is consistently bucking against the United States. Ever since we have begun plans for our missile shield in Europe they have moaned about the violation it poses to them. The reality is that the US set up the missile shield to protect us from rogue nations such as Iran. I think that Russia’s hostility towards the US stems from the years spent in an arms race during the cold war.
“What we’ve had to deal with in the last few years, the construction of a global missile defense system, the encirclement of Russia by military blocs, unrestrained NATO enlargement.” He continued his tirade saying, “The impression is we are being tested to the limit.” He needs to stop imagining conspiracies and realize that the United States has been nothing more than an ally to Russia. Frankly I am sick of his moaning about the missile shield. It is clear that the shield is purely a defense mechanism, not an offensive ploy to attack the Russians. In his defense, I certainly understand that he would see things differently being on the receiving end. Regardless I think that Russia needs to stop making threats before they wind up with reciprocating action.
