Regardless of what Barack Obama decides to do about the war on terror and our national defense, one thing is for certain – he needs to act quickly. This is a relatively unique situation because no president has been hurtled into such a mess right from the starting line. When January 20th rolls around, he better be ready for business and be ready to solve some of this countries real problems. If he wants any approval from the people, he will answer their cries about the economy with a comprehensive plan for government aid to assist this country through this great recession. I am not advocating a government bailout, but I know that a bailout is what Obama plans to do. If that is his strategy he needs to begin implementing it as soon as possible. With this whole situation I feel as though quick decisive action is the best means to solve our problems. This will certainly be true for our military issues and our domestic defense. From the moment Obama enters the oval office he will have these problems to solve:
Redeveloping the defense budget for 2010 – this will be a plan for military spending starting in next October. With this he will need to find a way to manage the obscene military costs that have become common. As I have stated before, our military is not operating as efficiently as it could be.
Plans for the war in Afghanistan – the President Elect needs to decide whether or not to disperse 20,000-25,000 more troops
He will need to make plans and take action for the war in Iraq. What will he choose – immediate troop reduction? Or will he leave our troops to complete the job?
