Representatives from six different nations have confirmed that they plan to continue dealing with Iran by way of dialogue and sanctions. In many ways, this is good news. In doing this, Iran will eventually cave do to international pressures and financial loss from sanctions. No nation can continue in any path for too long a period if they are suffering strong financial loss. Iran has been sanctioned economically which means that its funds have been cut and it is only a matter of time before they will have to cooperate. It is also worth mentioning that it is sometimes more successful and safe to negotiate with unstable nations such as Iran rather than immediately attacking such nations. As of now they are not of any tremendous threat so we have time to practice good diplomacy by way of sanctions and discussions with Tehran leaders.
The six nations that met in Paris on Thursday to discuss this issue were comprised of China, Russia, Britain, Germany, France, and the United States. The UN Security Council advocated a dual-track approach which constitutes sanctions and talks with Iran. The representative stated that he would be in favor of even more sanctions if Iran continues to disobey UN orders. Tehran has continually denied any allegations of foul play with their Uranium enrichment. They continue to say that they are only using the Uranium Enrichment for energy purposes and not to build an atomic bomb. However the United States as well as the EU feel that Iran cannot be trusted at their word.
