An Iranian Lawmaker commented that deliveries have begun for the Russian made SO-300 missile defense system. It is always shocking to me that countries such as Russia will continue to sell and distribute weapons to unstable nations such as Iran. Granted this is only a missile defense system. If reports are correct, this system is good for little more than protecting against aircraft and ballistic missiles. However this system does not benefit nations such as the United States who might at some point fire missiles at Iran. US officials in Washington have suggested that they also have information to support accusations that deliveries have begun for the SO-300 system. Russia continues to deny any accusations that they are delivering a missile defense system to Iran. They willingly admit that they trade weapons and nuclear materials with Iraq but they will not admit to providing them with a missile shield. I can’t seem to understand why they would deny their involvement with this missile shield. The most obvious reason would be because they do not wish to anger an already upset United States. The US doesn’t need any more trouble than they are already involved in. It isn’t to appealing to think of Iran with a missile defense program. If they are getting a missile defense program it is probably because they believe that they will be attacked sometime soon. If the nation realizes that they will be targeted soon, they are probably engaging in activities that would upset their enemies. My point is, Iran is likely planning to go to war if they are implementing a missile defense system.
