The Spokesperson for the Whitehouse stated that Hamas, “has once again shown its true colors as a terrorist organization that refuses to even recognize Israel’s right to exist.” The spokesperson continued his speech saying that he would like to see a Palestinian state and Israel “living side by side in peace.” In all honesty do you ever see such a thing as a realistic goal? Could Israel and Palestine really resolve their differences and live side by side? Aren’t there too many deep running problems and intricacies to permanently solve this problem?
According to the Whitehouse spokesperson, the first step in accomplishing peaceful existence of the two people groups is to have a cease-fire occur. I agree that nothing can be done without a cease-fire. If the two nations continue to kill one another, it will only run hatreds even deeper and make it more difficult to ever resolve differences or even peacefully coexist. These attacks have reminded both sides that they have a reason to hate one another. The longer the bloodshed exists, the deeper the hatred will run. If there is ever a chance to make peace, steps must be taken now before more generations of Jewish children are raised to hate Palestinians and vice versa. At some point the cycle has to be disabled for change to occur.
