On a positive note, Israel has stopped bombing Gaza temporarily so that aid can be sent in to wounded peoples in Gaza. A military spokesperson from Israel stated, “It was decided to suspend bombings between 1 and 4 o’clock every day starting today.” However the spokesperson continued that they would respond if rockets were fired during those times. Do you think it is a positive thing that Israel is suspending bombings during this time every day? My opinion in that it is great that they are allowing humanitarian aid to be sent into Gaza. However it seems somewhat foolish to have suspended bombings during the same time every day. Wouldn’t that make it easier for their enemies to meet and travel during those specified times when they know that they will not be attacked? Either way, I think it definitely shows that Israel is trying to do the right thing. Whenever a nation acts in a civilized manner during wartime it is always a positive and unexpected thing. So many people believe in the adage, “there are no rules in war.” However I think that in our day and age it is especially necessary to conduct yourself accordingly during war times. Humanitarian aid should always be sent in when necessary. Negotiations should be employed whenever possible. Lastly, leaders should always meet to discuss alternatives to war regardless of how long they have been fighting.
