President Obama is gathering vast sums of public encouragement for his plans to disarm the United States and foreign nations. A member of the International Commission on Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament stated, “I think it’s fair to say that we are pushing at a reasonably open door on all these issues.” In other words, Obama’s plans for disarmament are well overdue and the people of our world are more than ready for positive, swift action. I have said it before and I will say it again – what happens if we give up our nuclear weapons? Can we really expect that all the other nations will truthfully abide to this same principal? Let me remind you of an age old fact that history teaches us – power corrupts. Even the thought and desire for power warps and corrupts leaders and causes them to do aggressive, crazy things. If the leading nations of the world such as the US, China, Russia, and others begin decreasing their nuclear arsenals, you can rest assured that some nation will pick up where we have left off. It simply does not work any other way. Too many people want to be the global leader. The easiest way to become the world’s superpower like the United States is to have the most advanced weapons. If we give up our weapons and our research we will only be sitting and waiting unprepared.
