So here is a potentially heated topic, of which I would like your (the readers) input. Should women be allowed in the military? In the 21st century there are few critics that would be so bold as to say there is no place for women in the United States Military. If nothing else, most people will agree that women are an integral part of US Military Logistics as well as a multitude of other internal operations.
Twenty years ago that would have been a different story. Throughout history woman have stayed home while men fought in battle. However in our modern, progressive society women have begun integrating themselves into every faucet of life that they used to be excluded from. This includes the military. Originally there was suggestion that women could not function in the Military because they were “emotional” and less muscular than males. Regardless of accusations, women have proven through their service in the United States Military that they can perform the tasks required of them.
Here is where it gets a little sticky. Should women be allowed to go on ground operations where they will be directly involved in combat? Currently the answer is no, they are not allowed. What do you think? What pros and cons do you believe are associated with women being deployed for ground combat? One of the primary deterrents for allowing women into ground combat is the issue of cohesion of troops. Skeptics believe that is women are allowed into ground combat units, that this will cause problems because of sexual attraction. The theory is that the men would be preoccupied with impressing the women and that this would damage the harmony of a unit. Do you agree with this theory?
In this day, women are closer than ever to being involved in direct ground combat. Is this a blessing or a curse? You tell me. As always we welcome your input and look forward to dialogging with you. Thanks for stopping by.
