There are those that believe protest is what is needed to change the course of leadership. And there are times that protest is necessary, even a required thing. One example I can think of is the laws that allowed segregation in the days before the freedom marches on our nations capital, back in the days of “Whites only” drinking fountains, and segregated buses, restaurants, and other public places.
Sometimes men and women of good conscious have to stand up, and let their voices be heard.
But, in my humble opinion, the place that does NOT need to see a lot of protest is Anti War protest that dishonors our Servicemen and ServiceWomen. Not when we have men and women fighting and in some cases losing their lives in service to their country.
Am I against protest itself? No.
But I am against those who would make spurious or false claims, or claim that there are war crimes happening in Iraq or Afghanistan, or crimes against humanity, and when put in the light of day these claims have no merit. Yet the mudslingers, and the “anti war” folks continue to inflame and enrage parts of our society with their false claims.
A group calling themselves “Iraq Veteran’s Against the War” plan to march on Washington DC much like such groups did in Vietnam Era times. Like their Vietnam predecessors, they will claim to have witnessed war crimes and atrocities committed by our troops and brave soldiers, this time in Iraq rather than Vietnam. They want to have their “accounts” read into the Congressional Record, without having any of them investigated for truth, or accuracy. They don’t want truth, they want to get thousands of Americans stirred up by lies, and deceit.
Why the rush? Why not wait and turn over evidence to the authorities to see if any of these so called “atrocities” are true?
Why? Because its NOT about atrocities. Its NOT about war crimes. If it was and if they truly wanted to have anything done about it, then they would turn over evidence to be checked out, and vetted. But such rational, measured action does not serve their rabid, anti American rhetoric.
No, its about trying to seize control of our national will. Its about trying to embarrass a Administration they disagree with. Its about trying to make us look bad, foolish, or criminal, because you don’t agree with the direction or the motives behind our efforts overseas.
There are fraudulent claims being made by these so called “witnesses”, claiming different criminal acts on the part of our brave men and women, and these fools will be given a voice by certain members of the media and anti war members of Congress.
Don’t listen to them.
Demand that any claims be proven. Contact your Congressional Representative, your Senator or Congressman the moment you see any of this bull hunky. Because frankly, our fighting men and women deserve our respect and support, and don’t deserve to have their names and honor tossed in the mud simply because people have a naïve view of the world.
Hey, Its okay to be a peacenik, and its okay to have mistaken ideas about how the world works, and to be deluded into thinking that just by putting daisys in your hair, joining hands and singing Kum By Yah together that everything will work out in the big bad world.
I Can handle that. Our American Way of life allows to have your own opinion, and that is fine with me. But , I say, in your dissent, do not use lies, subtrufuge and deceit to color the debate just because you don’t get your way.
I don’t want to see our brave Airmen, Sailors, Marines, Soldiers and Fighting Americans be accused of things that are lies. If there is evidence of atrocities, if there are examples of war crimes then bring them forward, and let the consequences happen.
Don’t Let these so called Veterans against War sling mud, and stand off and toss stones against the good name of our American Fighting Soldiers without proof.
Join together with other Patriots such as yourself and demand PROOF before running around getting all excited about anti war rhetoric. Because anything less than demanding proof of such things is a disservice, and shows a lack of respect and dishonor for the efforts of our American forces all over the world.
