Have you ever stopped to think about what the wars of the future might look like? I was recently reading an article by Martin Sieff, which speculated that we will inevitably have widespread wars consisting of millions of people fighting because of vital competition for resources on our planet. I had actually never thought of it but it makes a significant deal of sense. Basically we have almost 7 billion people on this earth now. We have tripled up our population in the past 75 to 80 years. Meanwhile resources such as food and oil are being depleted at a greater rate than ever. Industrialized nations are craving power to continue and spur growth and economic/social prosperity. Everyone wants a chunk of the prosperity pie. What will happen when the have-nots become dissatisfied with their lot? It is entirely possible that this very issue will lead to the wars of the future. After all, wars have traditionally been fought for power and land. That is exactly what our future wars might be fought for – they will be fought for the control of resources and the prosperity and livelihood associated with those resources. Can anyone really formulate an argument against this hypothesis? With modern medicine advancing, humans are living longer than ever. This means that the population is able to exponentially grow year over year. Is there anything that can be done to avoid such a future conflict?
