Its official, trust for North Korea is far and fleeting. Though I recently dedicated a post to a research group which claimed North Korea might legitimately be launching a satellite, it seems most nations are gearing up and preparing to defend against a North Korea Missile. The newest nation to proclaim readiness to shoot down a North Korean missile is Japan. On Friday Japan gave its military permission to shoot down any and all incoming threats from North Korea. It appears that just about everyone is uneasy about the planned “satellite” launch scheduled between April 4th through 8th. It even makes me nervous that North Korea has failed to specify which date they will be launching the “satellite.” Are they just trying to keep us on our toes?
South Korea, The United States, and Japan have all stated that any missile testing launch by North Korea is unacceptable. However North Korea has repeatedly stated that if anyone shoots down their satellite, they will regard it as an act of war.
Why are tensions so high for a missile test? For one North Korea has a repeated history of instability. If North Korea is testing a long range missile, it would be capable of reaching the United States. Being an unstable nation, it is not out of the realm of possibility that North Korea would one day try to utilize this technology. I believe our military wants to cut them off at their knees. If we stop this before they can run a successful test, we won’t have to protect ourselves against a missile attack in the future.
