How did the United States Military transform from a small rebel force against Great Britain into the most powerful military source in the history of mankind? I would venture to suggest that it has to do with the American work ethic. Americans as a whole are incredibly competitive and ambitious. It is for this reason that our economy flourishes just as well as our military. No matter what segment of life Americans pursue, they seem to excel. I don’t mean to sound like an arrogant American; I am simply trying to uncover the reasons for America’s raw military dominance.
One thing is for sure, America would not be the powerhouse it is today if it had not come out of the cold war on top. After coming out of the cold war, America monitored Russia heavily in an effort to ensure that they would not develop competitive weapons systems again. This is the same practice that we instituted after WWII and it is the same practice that we employ today. There is no way around it; a successful military must know what its competitors are up to. The CIA spends countless sums of money every year to create a broad assortment of intelligence on every group that could threaten America. Granted they are not perfect. If they were September 11 could have been prevented. However they have done an excellent job of uncovering enemy nations and terrorist cells plans to attack America.
Perhaps I have missed the boat in my assertions that America’s military success is a result of competitive drive and surveillance/intelligence of other nations. If you disagree with me, that is fair. I only ask that you respond and make your theories known about America’s military advantage. What is it that has given us such success? If you have an answer, whether you agree with mine or not, please share it with us so that we can discuss it. As always, thanks for your input, and thanks for stopping by.
