Bush Tries for Diplomacy with Iran

President Bush is attempting to make peace and establish diplomatic relations with Iran before his presidency is over. I know that the man has received so much hateful commentary but I for one will stand up and say that I believe Bush has done a good job. I think that he has had an incredible set of problems to deal with, greater than any other president in history. I think that it is the series of problems he has been dealt that has contributed to this distaste that the American community has for president Bush.

Economic Recession Part 2

Yesterday I talked a little about our countries debt and the fact that we have to begin to reduce expenses everywhere, including in the military. I recently heard Senator McCain speaking about the current economic debt saying that his plans include reducing expenses and not raising taxes. If he can legitimately get that done, sign me up for that plan. However you have Obama on the other hand who wishes to begin tackling our national debt by raising taxes. I will not deny that this is certainly the easier route. However he also wants to increase spending in many ways. » Read More

Economic Recession and Military Expenses

How are people dealing with the economy? Should we change our military plans because of the faltering economy? In my mind, the answer to that question is yes. I think that when things get bad, you have to cut down on expenses. I hope that whoever becomes president next decides to tighten up the expense accounts of the pentagon in order to reign in our incredible military debt. We are spending more than we have to, its plain and simple. If the whole country and most of the world is in a recession, I think it is time to start » Read More

Turkish Raid hits Kurdish Rebels

On Sunday Turkish planes bombed a Kurdish rebel hideout in Iraq. It is supposed that senior military members were among those hit by the bombing. This is actually the seventh Turkish attack on Iraq since October third. These attacks have been in response to the events of October third, when the Kurdistan Workers Party attacked a Turkish facility and killed seventeen men.
On Sunday the purpose of the air strike was to kill as many high ranking officials within the Kurdistan Workers Party as possible. The mountainous region that they struck was believed to » Read More

North Korea’s Nuclear Plan

North Korea has “no immediate potential” to start their nuclear reactor in Yongbyon. If North Korea does reactivate their nuclear reactor, it is possible that they could utilize plutonium for warfare against several nations. The United States and North Korea are still in the midst of negotiations about North Korea’s nuclear facilities and whether or not they will shut them down for good. North Korea has repeatedly offered resistance because they feel that they are being “violated” by the United States insistence for random nuclear checks. North Korea tested an atomic weapon in 2006 which has not done » Read More

Iran Threatens to Stop Oil Shipments

Iran stated on Tuesday that it will not continue to defend itself every time someone object to their nuclear program. The comments from Iran were in response to a less than positive report issued from the UN watchdog that investigated the facilities. Knowing that the United States could attack Iran for their continued disobedience, Iran stated that they would stop oil shipments if they were attacked.
On Monday a report was issued by the IAEA which stated that Iran was trying to buy time to continue pursuing their nuclear program. The report also stated that Iran was in fact pursuing uranium » Read More

US to Investigate India Nuclear Deal

There seems to be a recurring theme for nuclear facilities in nations outside the United States. If a nation wished to have a nuclear facility, they must agree to frequent random UN inspections to ensure that nothing is amiss. The Nuclear deal signed by Bush and the President of India in 2005 is no different. We agreed to allow India to purchase cheap materials for their nuclear power plant in exchange for an agreement that they would welcome UN inspections into their facilities.
China, New Zealand, and some other countries have been reserved about allowing India access to materials to build » Read More

Belarus Will not Respond to US Missile Shield

Since the proposal of the European missile defense system, Russia has been standoffish towards the United States. They have commented that they plan to point missiles at United States facilities if they continue will plans for a European missile shield. Belarus has now commented that they will not respond aggressively to the United States as their long time Russian ally is planning to do. President Lukashenko of Belarus has recently been showing signs of decreased loyalty to Russia and increased friendship towards the United States. Since the soviet period, Belarus has been an unwavering ally of Russia. However it looks » Read More

Pentagon Could Sell Missiles to India

On Tuesday the Pentagon announced that the United States might sell missiles to India. The missiles in question are harpoon air to ground anti-ship missiles. This deal would net the United States 170 million dollars. Boeing would manufacture the missiles for India if this deal goes through. I must admit that when first learning of this, I was slightly shocked that we would sell weapons to India. I don’t know why but it has always been an odd concept that the United States is the number one worldwide arms dealer. Surely if we stopped selling weapons to other nations, someone » Read More
