Chinese Space Espionage

A US congressional panel warned United States leaders on Thursday of the threat China is now posing to government and military computers with sensitive information. For years China has been developing an advanced space espionage system to allow them to extract information from the United States. Chinese space technology is capable of infiltrating US government/military computer systems if change is not made. According to the US and China Economic and Security Review Commission, “China is targeting US government and commercial computers.”
The panel also discussed China’s continual sales of dangerous weapons to unstable nations such as Iran. One remark made by » Read More

Missile Shield and Russia Part Three

This is a prevalent issue in our country today so it is only fitting that I would devote at least one more day to it’s discussion. We left off yesterday with my assertion that as a nation we can’t simply bribe every country that gives us grief. Rather we have to explore other diplomatic alternatives. For instance we should hold talks with Russia and delicately tell them that we are a powerful ally and a good asset to their national security. By reminding Russia that we have more than any other nation to offer in terms of military support, we » Read More

Missile Shield and Russia Continued

Yesterday we talked about a potential shared missile shield between Russia and the United States. However there are some formidable problems to this plan. The greatest problem is the tension between the US and Russia. Though I don’t see these two nations going to war any time soon, they certainly aren’t ready to trust one another. And we would definitely need to be able to trust each other if we were to have a shared military defense venture.
What problems do you see with sharing a missile defense system with Russia? Can we overcome these problems? Do you think Obama will » Read More

Missile Shield and Russia

As we have discussed before, Russia has made it very apparent that they are angered by the United States missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic. Russia has formidable threats from other nations in Asia and the Middle East. Yet they have decided to come out and protest against the United States building a defense system. Somehow we need to reach common ground with the Russian’s so that they can realize that we are not trying to attack them, we are only trying to protect our nation and our troops abroad.
Could it work to have a protective missile » Read More

Obama and Missile Defense Continued

As I stated in my post yesterday, the missile defense system is now up in the air. This scares me because we have placed a lot of time and money into developing this system which will protect Americans at home and abroad. If we abandon the system now, we will not have the same level of protection that we would enjoy otherwise. I know that it is within Obama’s plans to cut military costs, which is definitely wise. But you must be prudent in cutting any costs in a sector so integral as our national » Read More

Obama and Missile Defense

Trey Obering, the missile defense chief for the Pentagon, stated that he was optimistic about the anti missile system and that he thought that it was definitely, “workable.” The anti missile system has proven effective in test settings at shooting down ballistic missiles. My personal feeling is that missile defense and national security is generally more important than developing new weapons. In general we try to practice diplomacy. That is why defense systems will always be slightly more valuable than offensive systems. We need to do research for weapons so that we stay on the » Read More

Obama and Russia

The Russian President has openly stated that he plans to attack the United States missile defense system in Europe after it is created. How will President Elect Obama react to this new challenge? Should he acquiesce the Russian leaders demands and forget about the missile defense system? Or should he come out the gate strong and show Russia that he won’t be bullied? My personal opinion is that as the worlds super power we don’t need to be taking orders from other nations. I do believe in good diplomacy but we can’t let scare tactics ordain our actions – especially » Read More

Should we have Entered into this War?

I want to know what you readers feel about the War in Iraq. Should we ever have entered into this war? President Barack Obama believes that we never should have entered into this war and that it was a mistake from the very begining. I believe the general consensus of the American public is that they had originally rallied for a war. Now that it has been several years since the war’s begining, with few direct benefits for the United States, its time to pull out. I very much dislike the way that everyone pretends that they didn’t advocate for » Read More

How Obama Should Cut Military Expenses

I have been saying for a long time that the US needs to cut their military spending costs. I would like to distinguish the differences between my plan for cutting costs and Obama’s plan for cutting costs. In June Obama clearly stated that he has no plans of continuing military spending as it has been conducted under the Bush administration. He said, “I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending. I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space. I will slow our development of future combat systems.” Do » Read More
