Default DD214 & Citizenship

Hi,

I served three years to the day in the US Army and was told by my recruter and the officer who gave me the "Honorable Discharge' that I would be an US Citizen. This seems to be not true. Has rules changed? I was discharged in 1964. Re-enlisted in 1969 and went through Basic training again. Served again 3 years "Honorably" I am confused now. What do I need to do or is there a US Army rule, that state that an individual is an US Citizen after 3 years of Honorable service? Who can help me here.

I would highly appreciate this.
