RUN, Eat more often, Eat better :)
If you are joining the military, you do need to be able to run. Its also great for weight loss. You might as well start increasing your running so it will be easier for you later. Some people even learn to like it. If you don't know much about it, Runnersworld.com is awsome and has a lot of free tools to help.
Eat more often and don't skip meals; you may have to make meals smaller, but eat often.
