Default Spring Break Becoming a Bit More Family Oriented

In some places anyway. Huge numbers of sun-seeking students and their bucks are headed for Mexico or the Caribbean where the drinking age is lower, the laws are looser and the welcomes warmer.

In the meantime, traditional American destinations for spring breakers like Daytona Beach, Panama City Beach and South Padre Island are expecting smaller college crowds compared to their peak party years as the areas seek to lure more families.

An interesting turn of events to be sure. I suppose the temporary loss of $$ is worth it for the less rowdy and destructive family oriented visitors the eventually come in and fill the void left by the young partyers.

A strong statement but one that I'm sure has been beneficial for the towns who so choose to follow that path.

That's good to hear, I have never been to any of those family vacation spots, but I have been to Mustang Island. It's next to S.Parde Island, you have to get on a ferry to get there, it is so nice and with lots of family things to do. My husband and I went with another couple thinking it was going to have a "spring spreak feel" to it, but there ended being tons of families instead.
