Why does every other word in rap music have to be profanity? It seems the more profanity the artist used the higher on the charts it rises.

I stopped listening to rap music a long time ago, because of the nasty lyrics, R&B in my opinion is so much better. But rap isn't the only type of music with profound words, you also have goth music and heavy metal, so you hear all the time on the radio, tv, internet.
