The USAToday story does have some useful tips for summer getaways but they can still be pretty pricey. Anyway, I have been searching for tickets to go home this summer and visit w/ my family in tow and even though I am trying to book early and way in advance I'm still unable to find anything under $340 per person which I am sure to most is not that bad but when your use to flying home to visit under $220 per person it's a big chunk of change. Good thing we don't have to pay for lodging cause then we would really have a problem. You can't even find a hotel room in Santa Barbara under $150 per night per person during the summer months.

Even a recent road trip we took was just shy of what it would have cost to fly the three of us to our destination. EVERYTHING is getting way to expensive.
