Need info on ships in Puerto Rico in 1950

Hello!

Please bear with me as this is all new to me.

I am attempting to find out if anyone was or knows of Navy ships stationed in Puerto Rico in 1950.

I believe the area now is known as Roosevelt Road but I'm not sure if that is how it was known back in 1950. Also, I don't know if it would include Vieques Island.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

I attempted to google this and got a bunch of good info and great history but nothing on the ship. I frist thought that it would be the 65th but then it said it was deployed. Then it stated that the 296th Infantry stayed; but I'm not sure if Infantry is a referral to Navy also. Can anyone help? If it is; it has to be the ship I'm looking for. Please let me know

Evie, you may also want to try going to your public library and check references on this paticular ship! Good luck and hope you find what your looking for. I am curious now to know myself! I have been trying to look it up online as well but no luck yet. If I find anything I will be sure to let you know.
