There are many awesome jobs in the Navy today. You just have to do your military homework and find out which military branch is best for you.

There are several impressive benefits in the Navy that you will enjoy when you join the US Navy. Take a look at the information provided by the US Navy about your education benefits:

First, let me say that if by any chance you can get your college degree and go direct to Navy OCS (Officer Candidate School), that is by far the best in consideration of military pay, prestige and civilian career opportunities. But, again, we not all have that option.

1. The Montgomery G.I. Bill (MGIB): In order to receive an education benefit of over $36,000 you will take a small $100 reduction in your Navy pay for just 12 months. You may use this money while you’re still serving or after completion of active duty. The US Navy also offers a Navy College Fund “Kicker”, which takes you to over $70,000 toward your education and you will be entitled to receive up to 36 months of educational benefits as a full-time student under this program.

2. The Navy College Fund: Available to those who sign up for the MGIB. If you’re a high school graduate, score a 50 or better on the ASVAB, and qualify for certain Navy jobs or apprenticeships, you can get more than $15,000 in addition to the MGIB money for your education.

3. Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC): This competitive scholarship is available for your application before attending college. If you are awarded a scholarship, you can choose from a participating college and take a normal course load. Graduate and be commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy. Currently, your service obligation with this scholarship is four years of active duty. Scholarship recipients who sign an NROTC contract for receipt of undergraduate educational assistance on or after July 1, 2010 must obligate to serve in the Navy for five years active duty instead of the previous four years.

As a qualified student, you will get regular monthly income ranging from $2,376 to $4,300 for up to three years prior to graduation. The amount includes a generous military salary and food allowance, plus a housing allowance that is based upon the location of the school attended. Upon completion, you step right into a leadership role as a respected Navy Officer. You can ultimately gain responsibility and experience faster than your peers – all for as few as four years of service commitment.
