College Financial Benefits and the National Guard

Print Friendly, PDF & Email
Paying for school is not nearly as affordable as it once was. With the cost of tuition and related expenses on the rise, more students than ever are missing out on a college education. If you are looking for a way to pay for school, without going broke, it may be time to consider the educational benefits offered by the National Guard.

1. The Post-9/11 GI Bill

2. Army National Guard Kicker

3. The Montgomery GI Bill

4. 100% Tuition Assistance up to $18,000

5. ROTC

6. Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP)

7. National Guard Scholarships

Free Money for College

While there is nothing wrong with using student loans to pay for college, this is not something you will have to do if you are part of the National Guard. Instead, all of the programs detailed above offer “free money” for college. In short, this means that you can go to school without having to worry about paying out of your own pocket or paying back the money in the future.

Take the Montgomery GI Bill for example. Once you decide how you are going to pay your tuition – such as with a scholarship – you can use this to take care of monthly expenses. With an allowance of at least $300 per month, you will have plenty of money for expenses outside of tuition. This money is sent directly to you and can be used for everything from school supplies to books (or anything else you decide on). By receiving roughly $11,000 over a four year period, you are gaining access to a benefit that most college students would appreciate.

The National Guard is serious about education. With so many available programs, finding one that can help you pay for college should be a simple task.
