The Army Health Professions Scholarship Program

Are you interested in pursuing an advanced degree in the field of health care? If so, you know that paying for your education is no simple feat. Fortunately, the United States Army is more than willing to step in and help you reach all your goals.

When it comes to health care scholarships the Army has one of the most comprehensive programs in the world. It is known as the F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program.

As a qualifying student, you will receive a full tuition waiver for the following disciplines: medical, psychology, veterinary, dental, or optometry.

As if full tuition is not enough, those who qualify for this program will also receive a monthly stipend of at least $2,000.

What does the Program Cover?

As noted above, the Army will pay 100 percent of your tuition for any accredited medical, psychology, veterinary, dental, or optometry program in the US or Puerto Rico.

What about a Sign-on Bonus?

Along with a full tuition waiver and a monthly stipend, those who qualify for the program also receive the money necessary to pay for books and other equipment. Making things even better is the fact that medical and dental students are often times eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus.

More Financial Benefits

As you are in school, you will receive a stipend of $2,000+ every month. During break times, you are entitled to receive officer’s pay as you train. Upon graduation, it is time to enter the Army – but not just as an average Joe. Instead, you will have a job in your specialty to go along with your rank as captain.

Am I Eligible?

Now that you know more about the benefits of the scholarship program, you probably have one question: am I eligible?

To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:

–  United States citizen who currently holds a baccalaureate degree

– Enrolled in or have an acceptance letter from an accredited graduate program in the United States or Puerto Rico

– Maintain status as a full-time student for as long as you are receiving your benefits

– Qualify to become a commissioned officer in the Army Reserve

With this scholarship program, you have an active duty service obligation equal to one year of service for every year that you received your scholarship. There is also a minimum service obligation based on your field of study. For example, medical students must service for at least two years.

Thanks to the F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program, more students than ever are able to chase their dream of working in the medical field – without having to take on too much debt.
