Print Friendly, PDF & Email

It didn’t take much deliberation this year to choose the Person of the Year. has chosen President Donald Trump as the Person of the Year. President Trump receives this honor because if his willingness to stand up for America and his refusal to back down as he shapes America into a great country again.

For a very long time, many Americans have known the political system is corrupt. However, President Trump has come right out and said Washington is a corrupt establishment and needs to be dealt with. His presidential campaign was led by the slogan, “Make America Great Again,” and even though half the nation may not agree, he’s doing exactly what he promised.

The best part about President Donald Trump, he doesn’t care about his job approval rating. So many recent presidents only care about how they look in the media and their own reputation. Trump seems to be determined to do as he promised regardless of what he looks like or how it may change is reputation.

President Trump Fights the Media

The mainstream news media has had a love/hate relationships with Trump for many years. When President Trump took office, he made it pretty clear he wasn’t going to put up with the normal BS the media likes to spew. In fact, he took it so far as to declare “war” on the media and it’s about time someone did.

The American media has been no better than a machine producing lies over the past few decades. There isn’t much truth in media these days and finally someone is standing up against the corrupt, agenda-pushing news outlets influencing millions of Americans each day.

President Trump has blasted just about every large news outlet due to the incredible bias they show against him regularly. He has called out ABC News, CNN, the Washington Post and many others and the White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has even said the anti-Trump prejudice in the media has gotten “out of control” and believes some journalists are “purposely putting out information that you know to be false.”

President Trump even called out Dave Weigel, reporter from the Washington Post for a photo he posted on Twitter. The photo makes it look like the hall where President Trump spoke in Pensacola, Florida was partially empty, when it was actually packed. Weigel admitted the picture he posted gave the wrong impression and Trump has called for the dismissal of the reporter.

Calling it How it Really is

One of the biggest reasons chose President Donald Trump as the Person of the Year for 2017 is his ability to call it like it is. He has demonstrated his willingness to do this time and time again by calling the system “rigged.” Trump doesn’t beat around the bush and it’s certainly nice to have someone in office with the ability to call it like it is instead of hiding behind politics and speech writers.

Time Magazine thought enough of Donald Trump to name him as the Person of the Year for 2016 and he certainly deserves the honor again for 2017. While calling it how it really is allowed Trump to swoop in and steal the presidency from all the scripted political professionals, he was also able to win more African-American and Latino votes than the 2012 Republican nominee.

He believes sending jobs outside of the United States has been, “The greatest jobs theft in the history of the world,” and he believes he can fix it. So far, he hasn’t been wrong considering the unemployment rate has been low and many new jobs have been created since he took over the presidency.

The First 100 Days

For some ridiculous reason, we judge a new president rather harshly on the first 100 days in office. Maybe we should all be judged so harshly for the first 100 days when we take over a new job. Regardless, President Trump accomplished more than most in those first 100 days.

  • The DOW rose more than 15% since the results of the election were announced
  • The DOW even rose 6.5% since the inauguration of President Trump
  • The DOW has its fastest 2,000 point run ever taking just 66 days to go from 19,000 to 21,000
  • The US Debt was decreased by $100 billion (President Obama increased it by $560 billion in his first 100 days)
  • The US Manufacturing Index showed the highest numbers in 33 years
  • 298,000 new jobs were added in the first month alone
  • The housing market became red-hot with the average number of days a home is on the market going from 84 in 2011 to just 45
  • Illegal immigration is down 67% since the inauguration of President Trump
  • NATO announced Trump’s election has caused as much as $10 billion in Allied spending
  • 66 executive orders, proclamations and memoranda were signed during the first 100 days

In addition to taking care of all of these things during just the first 100 days of his Presidency, Trump met with Xi from China, Abe from Japan and many other foreign leaders.

When we look at just the first 100 days, it’s clear to see President Trump was on his way to becoming our Person of the Year early. The momentum didn’t stop.

The First Year under President Trump

During the first year of having Donald Trump lead this great country, many things have been accomplished. Along with all of the accomplishments listed as a part of the first 100 days. President Trump also accomplished the following:

The Tax-Cut Bill was passed, which reduces the corporate tax rates from 35% to 21% and reduced individual rates, as well.

  • Took away the ObamaCare mandate forcing individuals to buy health insurance.
  • Opened the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling.
  • Confirmed Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, along with 12 federal appeals court judges, which was a record for a president’s first year in office.
  • Cut regulations on small businesses
  • Imposed a travel ban and even by the end of the year, a version of the ban has been left in place.
  • Stepped up raids on immigrants living in the country illegally.
  • Declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel
  • Withdrew from the Paris climate deal
  • Pulled out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership
  • Rolled some of Obama’s Cuba policies back
  • Made strides to repeal the Net Neutrality rules
  • And much more!

Trump has accomplished so much and even while reports from news outlets he has called out for spreading lies have said he watches 4 to 8 hours of TV per day. Of course, maybe the biggest accomplishment was when President Trump decided putting “Merry Christmas” back in Christmas was going to happen. He didn’t bow down and just say “Happy Holidays” like so many do.

President Donald Trump isn’t Politically Correct, which is by far one of the best qualities he possesses. America needed a president ready to kick the system in the mouth and tell it like it is. We got what we voted for and the controversy that comes with him really isn’t much different than the controversy that has surrounded every great president.

President Trump has three more years to clean up Washington and “Make America Great Again.” He’s well on the way to accomplishing most of what he promised when he ran for office and even keeping one campaign promise is enough to put him ahead of most politicians.

President Donald Trump is the Person of the Year and deserves it! He has created jobs, lowered taxes and created the highest consumer growth confidence in more than three decades. While today, we honor him as our Person of the Year, by the time he’s done, he will go down as one of the greatest presidents this country has ever seen!
