Flexible Army Educational Opportunities

The United States Army has a program to help transition to college called the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Flexible Education Program. It is a flexible program for study that works to set up educational objectives to match Army personnel, using a partnership and a strategic agreement. It is a program that is designed to provide both graduate and undergraduate degree support for students at different educational institutions. It provides a basic agreement with future, current and former DAU students to give them the ability to participate in different sponsoring educational programs. The Army Flexible Education program is a specific program that provides a strategic degree partnership for students to obtain different degrees or certificates, in addition to regular college educational opportunities. The program assists in offering programs for: undergraduate degrees, undergraduate certificates, graduate degrees and graduate certificates. The Defense Acquisition University can assist in getting practical Army experience qualified for college credit, and help with matching up practical Army experiences with actual college credit. In addition the program has partnered with a number of institutions including the University of Maryland, and Maryland University College. The Army Flexible Education program is a strategic partnership that certifies that the degrees offered and certificates granted by the program will meet basic mandatory guidelines for educational standards in a large number of career fields and vocational careers. Much of what the DAU and Army Flexible Education program is consists of a type of clearinghouse program, that helps match the individual Servicemember to his or her ideal college career path. There are some special programs for graduate level credit that sometimes will accept more credits, but they are very restricted and difficult to get into. Much of this program is available through distance learning, both using correspondence courses and over the Internet. At the graduate level things are stricter, but it is still possible to transfer up to six credit of practical Army educational experience toward a graduate level degree.
