Army Artillery Fire Support Specialist

The Army Fire Support and Artillery Fire support specialist is an important and specialized job. It is a job that requires dealing with explosives, ammunition, and all different types of munitions. You will be responsible for not only your own safety but also the safety of your fellow soldiers as you deal with different munitions and explosive materials. Serving as a member of an Army Artillery Field team, and you will work to fire large weapons or missiles to support other infantry soldiers or tanks on the battlefield. It is a specialist-enlisted position that deals with identification of the enemy, target processing, and supervising, leading or assisting in intelligence dealing with division artillery issues. Working in the field as a member of an Army Artillery Fire Support team you have to have the physical stamina to serve for long periods without rest or relief, and to perform physical and strenuous activities for long periods of time without rest. As a member of the United States Army fire support and infantry Artillery fire specialist position you will deal with working to assist to determine the location of targets using manual or machine aided calculations, establishing and maintaining different artillery communications systems, operating and utilizing target designators, night observation equipment, and laser range finders and interacting and operation of different communication devices with other artillery and command units in the field. You will be responsible for include decoding and encoding messages, and coordinating target lists and documents, as well as disseminating and preparing fire support plans. You will work as part of a battle team, on an Army Fire Support and Field Artillery team. As a member of the Field Artillery you have to have normal hearing and normal color vision, because there are items such as types of ammunition that are color-coded. You will be taught how to operate, maintain and use various different types of rocket, missile and gun systems, and learn about artillery tactics, methods of handling and storing different types of Ammunition, how to compute and target different locations for artillery fire.
