Artillery US Marine Corps Cannon Specialist

Working as a member of the US Marine Corps Artillery Cannon team is a job that is very fast paced, and one with a lot of responsibility. You will work to support personnel on land, air and sea and to help defend against air attack. The Marine use an Artillery Cannon Fire team to help operate the large equipment and missile systems, as well as the large caliber ammunition used to support infantry and tank units. The Marine Corps Cannon Artillery fire team specialist involves a lot of physical stamina and requires a lot of strength and physical conditioning. Training for the job of Marine Corps Artillery Cannon specialist starts with 9 weeks of basic combat training, the same as any other Marine enlisted personnel. As such the Marine Artillery Cannon specialist is directly responsible for directing large artillery fire support and cannon fire down upon a specific enemy location. Marine Field Artillery Cannon specialists also work. You have to have normal hearing and vision ability, and you must not be colorblind as the position requires using color-coded materials and charts to sort ammunition. As a Marine Artillery Cannon specialist you will rise in training and rank as time passes, and you will increasingly be responsible for training and assisting junior enlisted Artillery Cannon Personnel. You may eventually be called to command a small Field Artillery unit as a Senior Enlisted man. The Marine Corps Artillery Cannon Specialist is a team member of a Marine Field Artillery Cannon unit. After boot camp you will progress to an advanced Marine Corps Field Artillery Fire Direction School. You will receive 7 weeks of training under simulated and real conditions, and classroom training. Some of the duties of a Marine Corps Artillery Cannon specialist may involve: using electronic and computer systems to prepare targets for attack, establishing and maintaining fire control and targeting communication systems, and making ready tactical field artillery targeting and weapons system targeting.
