Are you interested in joining the National Guard? Do you have special skills? Do you have the desire to join a unit that is training for a special assignment? In this case, you may qualify for one of many cash bonus jobs.
While a bonus is not the only reason to join, it can be the icing on the cake for many people. Did you know that you can receive an enlistment bonus of up to $5,000? Along with this, those who have previously served in the military may qualify for an additional $5,000 if they agree to serve in the same critical skill career.
Note: the availability of cash bonus jobs varies by state. Contact your local recruiter or request more information to determine your eligibility.
Popular National Guard Cash Bonus Positions
Not every position in the National Guard qualifies for a cash bonus. Along with this, you may not be eligible for some careers. However, if you consider all your options you should be able to find at least one career path which results in an enlistment bonus.
The following cash bonus jobs are only open to men:
Special Forces Weapons Sergeant, Special Forces Engineer Sergeant, Special Forces Medical Sergeant, Special Forces Communication Sergeant, Special Forces Intelligence Sergeant, Special Forces Team Sergeant, Special Forces Warrant Officer, and Special Forces Detachment Commander.
Just because the above “Special Forces” jobs are closed to women does not mean they have no opportunity to earn a cash bonus. Here is a list of positions that are open to both men and women:
Air Defense Tactical Control Operations Center Operator, OH-58D Armament/Electrical/Avionics Systems Repairer, Intelligence Analyst, Imagery Analyst, Common Ground Station (CGS) Operator, Ground Surveillance Systems Operator, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Operator, Counterintelligence Agent, Human Intelligence Collector, Signals Intelligence Analyst, Cryptologic Communications Interceptor/Locator, Signals Collector/Analyst, Counterintelligence/Human Intelligence Senior Sergeant, Power-Generation Equipment Repair, Motor Transport Operator, and Intelligence Senior Sergeant.
Along with the cash bonus that you receive for joining one of these career fields, you still earn regular National Guard pay.
When you join the National Guard you have the chance to do more than protect your country. You can earn good money upfront and as you serve.
