Police Trainers Help Iraqi Security Achieve Success
The Iraqi National Police have been working diligently to train and learn new techniques, and to become proficient with both the rifle and pistol. The Iraqi Security Forces have been working to train in marksmanship and general rifle and pistol procedures.
The National Iraqi Police Training team has been working with other members of the Iraqi Army to train them in different marksmanship and different issues. Meeting with different groups of 8 to 10 men, the national police officers are working to meet 3 to 4 times a week, and are recently focusing on specific skills necessary for Iraqi Soldiers to improved their military skills.
In particular the rifle and marksmanship skills have been on desk for improvement, and it is in these areas that the National Police Trainers are focusing.
The members have been trained by the coalition, and finally it is a case of the “trainers being trained.” The Iraqi National Police now has a number of different personnel that are working hard to train full time different members of the Iraqi National Army.
The joint training also benefits the Iraqi National Police, who have sent a number of their personnel to receive effective training in police and combat training.
What is being worked toward is to have a training program in place that will enable the ongoing ability of the Iraqi Government to defend itself using its National Iraqi Army, and the Iraqi National police to police the nation, without having to rely on the coalition.
